Fabulous Arts Extravaganza

November10

Hello Everyone. Just a note to say a BIG  THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who supported our Arts Extravaganza.  It was a great success and we’ve received lots of lovely feedback about the show, and everyone involved!

A visiting artist mentioned that some of the art work in the foyer could hang in any art gallery in the world! Wow, that must have been wonderful for Miss Sharp to hear!  Congratulations to all the artists and Miss Sharp on the lovely display.

They’ve also been complimentary comments about our clowns – even from the professional clowns who performed for us at the show, as well as the stilt walkers, belly dancers and our amazing roaming band.  Congratulations also to our NICA Sparks performers for their contribution to the evening’s entertainment. Who knew a sauce bottle could be so entertaining.

Great music was made by our Junior and Senior Choirs and our school band, 800 Decibels rocked off. It was very exciting combining our musical and circus talents for the first time, and we think you all did an amazing job.

Congratulations to our Bamboozle performers, many who performed on stage for the first time. You are all amazing and very talented. 🙂

Special thanks to our guest performers, ‘Pancakes are for Breakfast’ who delighted us with their poetry, bananas and other strangely unimaginable things.  I wonder what that last thing was???

Finally, our National Institute of Circus Arts students performed a variety of interesting acts that demonstrated their developing skills in juggling, hat manipulation, hula hoops, tumbling and acrobalance.  Well done!

STAY TUNED FOR PHOTOS!

Nica Sparks 2 by Callum

March24

Last Saturday I went to Nica Sparks.  First we played a game called Mr Hit.  Mr Hit is a game where you have to remember other people’s names.

Second we did some acts with the props, which were an egg beater and a skipping rope.

Last we played Firing Squad.  This is a game where you have to be very funny.  If you are not funny, you get shot by the firing squad.

We had a lot of fun. 🙂

Bamboozle at Harmony Fest by Holly Mc

March24

On Sunday 22nd March, Bamboozle performed at the Ballarat Harmony Festival. First Bamboozle met in a small room (the green room) at the Mining Exchange. Then we took the mats and the equipment into the big performance area.

Next we started our workshop. We had lots of different people come and try equipment.

It was a great day. At the end of it we all felt proud that we were representing our school.

End of Term 1

March24

It has been a very busy term, with students performing at Willaura Hospital’s Market Day Fundraiser, and Ballarat’s Harmony Fest.  Both ventures have been very successful and the students have received some excellent feedback from organisers and members of the public.  Well done to everyone involved.  Special thanks to the parents who drove their children to these venues to perform.  Check out Holly’s report about Harmony Day under Bamboozle on the blog.

Great work is being done by our Nica Sparks Troupe Members, and we look forward to seeing some items of work from them in term two.  They are managing the grueling schedule with a smile on their faces. Check out Callum’s reports by searching for Nica Sparks on our blog

Lots of students have now achieved their SMART goals, and have started writing about it on the blog.  We have invited parents to make positive comments  as well, so please leave some feedback for your children.

We are due to visit NICA on the second Saturday of term 2.  Can’t wait to try out our next lot of tricks.

Happy holidays everyone. 🙂

Summer 3/4B

March23

I’ve achieved my hula hoop goal. I can spin it around my elbow 15 times. 🙂 I feel proud of myself for working hard and achieving my goal. I’m now going to learn to walk with help, and to fall safely while on stilts.

Navasha 3/4B

March23

Today I learnt how to do hand spins using a hula hoop. I used both hands. I feel confident now that I can do it. 🙂  I am going to learn how to do it above my head now. This means I will then be able to do a float down.

Sonny 3/4B

March23

I am learning flowersticks and I have achieved helicopter and tick-tock, including under the legs.  I feel excited because I achieved my goals.  Next I’m going to learn propeller. I think I will have to work hard to achieve this goal. 🙂

Harry 3/4B

March23

I learnt to do figure 8 using a staff.  It was an easy trick to learn.  I am very happy with myself.  Now I’m going to learn how to 1/2 tosses using both hands.

Bella 3/4B

March23

I am able to ride around the running track non-stop, twice in a row, without stopping. I feel good about myself because I have achieved my goal.  I had to work hard, and to try not to ride as fast as I normally do.  Going around the track wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. 🙂  Next I am going to crossover using poi, 5, 10, 15, 20 times.

Unicycle goal achieved!

Sruthi’s Goal

March23

I have achieved my goal of walking on stilts for 6 steps. I’m now trying to walk further without anyone helping me.  I can also fall safely onto a mat when on the stilts.  I felt proud of myself because of the hard work I did to achieve my goal.  Next I’m going to walk on stilts while using one piece of circus equipment as well.  🙂
